[]Well, I'm heading up to Desolation Sound for the first time at the end of the month. School isn't out so I should have the place to ourselves. It's mostly exploring time for the first time but, while I'm up there, I'd like to catch some lings. Can anyone pass on some information about where one might be able to latch on to one and what to use? Appreciate any input.

That being said Teakerne Arm has a few nice spots and the mouth of Pendrell and Okeover Inlet
Watch anchoring in Teakerne as it is an old log dump and anchor hangups are quite common.
Which side of Texada are you passing on the way and I may give you some good spots to try for Snapper since you are passing through.

Hello Kisinana, I was thinking about running up through the Gulf Island, cross over after I pass the Navy range over to Texada and going north. I hear it's the preferred route. We both love bottom fish and have avoided fishing for them in the south end of the islands along with U.S. waters. Sure liked to see the bottom critters make a come back. I see they have a problem up Desolation also. If there's a lot of snapper to be had, I would love to know of a couple of places. Are jigs the way to go up there or bait? We haven't had a cod all since last July. Thanks for the quick reply.

Get yourself some Point Wilson Darts in shades of green/yellow, and white. These things are deadly on bottom fish and I have seen them outfish bait many times.

Second that on the point wilson darts. Get plenty of whites as they work on almost anything. Even caught salmon on the drop. Fun stuff.
