Leader spools

I pretty much use braid on all my salmon reels, but with about 15 meters of monofilament at the end to attach to the downrigger release. I normally carry only two spools of leader line 25 lb for spoond and bait and 40lb for hootchies. They always seem to come unspooled in the tackle box, so I waste about a meter eachh time I retie. Any ideas on how to keep the line from unspooling?

Either a big rubber band around the spool or a piece of velcro. I buy the long strips of velcro and use them all over the boat - keeping rods together, keeping lines coiled, etc.

Drill two small holes,a little bigger diameter than the line on that particular spool and about 1/4-3/8" apart,in one of the lips of the spool, close to the outside edge.Slip the end of the line up through one hole, then down through the other. This pinchs the line and keeps it from unraveling. Some brands already have this done to the spools already.

I second that.

1/4 inch self adhering/double sided velcro will fix your problem...... The stuff gardeners use is great. You can also use it as rod ties as well and cable ties. As the spool wears down your can readjust it easily.

Great ideas there., thank you. Actually got out on the water today, "she who must be obeyed" wanted a ling cod for dinner. Salmon was a bonus
