Late night bait Nanaimo north

My first trip of the year is finally hear. I'm racing from the Okanagan to the ferry and getting off at Duke Point at 10:15pm Friday. Is there a gas station between Nanaimo and Port McNeil that is open and sells anchovies? Plan to launch at first light in Alder Bay, and they will still be asleep I imagine. I can sleep next week.
On another note, does anyone have any updates on the fish-slaying rumours up Telegraph way?

Brine them up/ freeze the brine bucket and throw it in a cooler when you leave.
Your good to go in the am.

Good luck

I realized after responding that anchovies may not be easy to find in the Okanagan before you leave. LOL!
You could premake the brine and add the choves in Vancouver if you can find some on the way through.

Tubber I am in CR and gonna check on my way to work for you. I am thinking the Shell at the Inland Highway and Willis Road or the Chevron near River Sportsman might. Will repost around 1pm.

Scratch my earlier suggestions.
Mowhawk in Campbellton has Anchovy and Herring, looks fresh for this year.

Take the Inland Island Highway into Town. Down the big hill you come into Campbellton and slow down to 60. Go Past the Esso on your left, then then the Cap-It place. The next lights just before the bridge over the Campbell River, make a right (Old Island Highway, Gold River to the left). It will be 2 Blocks on your left hand side by the Campbell River Lodge. I think it is still a Mowhawk if not it is a Husky you cannot miss it.

Otherwise the new Junction Gas in Sayward might have some but I am not sure of the hours

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions, even though I didn't see most until now. The folks at the CR Esso put me onto the Mohawk, where I got anchovies at 12:30am. I use a dry mix of salt, powdered milk, blueing combo and fired them into the tupperware. Napped from 2:30-5:30, fishing by 6:30, pissing rain, flat calm, Orca show -trolled with the tide from Donegal to Lizard. Turned back against the tide and got a nice one just below Lizard at 50 ft on a Green Haze/602 Krippled or JDF holder, 7ft leader. Fun times with 2 manual DRs. Approx 26-30 lbs, too sleep deprived and soaked to pack her to the scale and didn't look as big as the 2 32's I've caught before so why bother?
Had some problems with my boat and am back home. 1600km, 2 ferries, 6 hours fishing in 52 hrs. I hope you island guys know how blessed you are to live there. Hoping for Nootka Aug 1st and already booked for Ukee Aug 13th and 28th. Off to Maui July 4-18.
