I am just curious for those who have gone the pod route did they consider an outboard motor bracket like this place manufactures. http://www.stainlessmarine.com/single2.html

They are around $1000 depending on the manufacturer and many indicate an outboard size up to 300 hp.

These "brackets" have positive flotation and seem very similiar to the pod design. I am sick and tired of my sterndrive and want to make sure I make a good decision with my limited budget.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I would have one made, that way you can see it fits the boat before you put out the money. DSS (Doug's Steel Stuff) in Ducan made mine, AND bolted it on as they had the crane to hold it steady. Great prices, good workmanship. VERY good price comparted to what I had seen. Was also very good about some mods I wanted after I ran it as well, good guy to deal with.
