almost Every year i have bought a new net, not buying cheap ones they just always break. I like the ones with the webbing is rubberised for release purposes it does not take scales off, i prefer the gaff method but people like pictures too.

I see Scotty makes one with a warranty, Thoughts on nets?

PNT has some real nice seamless bags with extra long foam filled handles,
I'm sure Derby will chime in on which ones they are
I do like mine very much, and they do float well too:rolleyes:

Granted the last few years I have used gaffs pretty much exclusively I have had 2 scotty nets now for over 20 years........replaced the bags twice.
If I ever need to replace one it will be with another scotty for sure.

I bought a scotty net last year. I love it. Easy to extend and retract for storage. I bought a knotless, fine mesh bag from gone fishin incase Im releasing and replaced it with the stock one. Works well in my opinion.

Lucky strike makes a really nice catch and release net. Th new ones have a extendable handle I saw it a trade x in Fred custom tackle, They are really sweet.

Nets last for ever I've heard if they don't get used much lol! I go through a net every season no matter the type on net. The killer on the netting is clubbing your fish in the net really don't like the tight net the original large hole net is my favorite. Unless it's a lunker you don't want to take a chance loosing a gaff is best slam her through the gill plate and hike them in. A quick wack and run the gaff down the line to the hook quick jerk and slide her into the hold done deal.

How do you keep breaking nets? I've never broken one and I fish more then your average guy. WAY MORE

I have lost them to sea lions, but never broken one.

I've never netted a sea lion;)

no such thing as a catch and release net... get the gaff!!!

I made a rookie mistake and lifted in a heavy fish with the handle only that's one way to break a net!

They arent as heavy as a scotty as I LOVE the triangle handle and the tangle free netting had my first one for over 10 years!!!!!!! maybe its too heavy with the big fish you put in your net burnsy?? LOL
