Knot for spoons

Do any of you use a knot that stays in a loose loop like the Rapala knot? I was told the spoon has more action with such a knot. I called one of the manufacturers and they didn't know if it made a difference.

All the old commercial plugs use to come with a stainless ring attached to the front, I think this would give the same amount of freedom to the lure as a rapala knot.

And remember....Keep your tip up!!!

No pro, but my experience says use a snap swivel & split ring if you're thinking loop.

Loops and duolock snaps (tied on w/o swivel) can create a slight cant to one side. You essentially just want the spoon to wobble, not spin or go lop-sided.

The swivel will keep the angle & wobble right and the snap allows for a little bit of the floppy flutter you're trying to get with the loop.

Maybe reduce speed a touch to keep it from spinning on the swivel.

Also, the loop can abrade in the spoon's eye, or if it has a split ring, get nicked by the ring itself or slip inside the splits.

Cheers!
