My grandfather just gave me a few of these King of Diamond lures. Similar to a buzz bomb and said they worked for jigging. Has anyone else ever had sucess with them?

This is a good thread. I was gifted a trip last year over at Canadian Princess fishing and we went out and jerk fished. Only one lure was used, it was exactly the same setup for everyone. 17 people on the boat, and I think everyone limited out. It made me wonder why we spend so much money on all of the trolling gear we use. Top it off, we were active the whole time. Anyone have tips on how to do it well?

Well its fairly simple i usually go out somwhere in around 150 ft or less and start somwhere near the bottom and jig for 2-3 minutes and then bring it up 10 turns and then jig another few minutes then another 10 ft until you reach the surface or find a depth the fish are feeding at. Bait balls are always the best though!

Ive caught thousands of Salmon on this lure as I happen to be the spawn of the inventor! Works great, nitnat , old school fishing at cowichan bay and all the way up the bc coast, and you end up having the biggest arms by the end of the season. haha. Nothing Like setting a hook on a jig on the up swing owe ya

Wow.... I didn't think anyone jigged anymore LOL..
I try to dedicate at least an hour or more to jigging every trip out. It is a blast when you get onto fish, you just never know what you are going to pull up.

The kids absolutely love it, they are always bugging us,,,"when are we going to stop trolling (aka: "just driving around"), to do some Jigging?"

Fish hunter- When my dad took me jigging for the first time I ws hooked on fishing, then the trolling got more tolerable. We used to set aside atleast an hour for jigging every trip. Its loads of fun. You never know what you will pull up from the depths!

Anybody got a pic of one of these? Google netted no obvious results. Where can you purchase them.

I also am a fan of jigging.

The reel also interests me. I shopped at a store recently in Victoria and they tried to steer me away a bit from these reels and towards Shimano because of service opportunities and turnaround times, but Shimano seems to be priced a bit higher.

How was it you picked this reel? I like the high gear ratio.

I think they were manufactured in Duncan by Jim Plunet. Apparently he still has the moulds but no longer produces them. They used to be hot out at Separation Point in September jigging for Cowichan River chinook. We all know how that fishery ended up. One of the hot tips to rigging them was to turn them upside down. They were a hot lure in their time. It's too bad he doesn't make them anymore. I would like to get my hands on some of the original Ried's Strikers & Riptides as well.
