Kicker motor necessary

I forgot to add— my T25 Yamaha was still under warranty and warranty would have covered the trim/tilt motor but the poison pill of warranty work is the requirement that it be performed by an authorized Yamaha dealer which would have meant trailering a 30 foot boat for an hour through crazy traffic, maybe getting the boat back in mid-JUly, then trailering it back again through crazy traffic.

Dodging cars with that boat behind my truck is so low on my list these days that I decided to swap out the motor in a parking lot with a local mechanic for $ 100…the cost of the motor however, still stings, especially on a 2 year old Yamaha that cost a stupid amount of money on the purchase…

But owning a boat without a kicker motor for me ain’t going to happen…..it still puzzles me why so many guys on this site make arguments against that addition to a boat….I look at it as a valuable insurance policy, especially if you run it on a separate fuel tank
