kayak fishing - Vancouver Gulf Islands

I am planning a kayak trip to the Vancouver Gulf Islands in early August. Any advice on salmon fishing gear, and technique?

Richard.....do a search on this forum; there was a thread earlier this summer/spring about this exact topic. Try searching "kayak" or "gulf islands" and you should be able to track it down.

If I recall there was plenty of info in there.

Electric downrigger or manual?

Because on the Inside most fish run deep.

All joking aside I suggest an 8' rod with a quality reel filled with spectra fibre line and a selection of jigs to 110 grams.

It'll be tough fishing unless you find a school of Pinks-and Beware the RCAs!
