Jigging vs Trolling

I use a 7' ugly stick tiger rated for 10-50 lb line with a Shakespeare tidewater spinning reel and braided 50lb. Generally I cast in the direction I'm drifting which allows for more time on bottom and less hang ups.

I had a great weekend jigging at Nootka, the biggest was 27 and although we didn't hook as many coho as the trollers....the fish were a lot more fun to fight without a flasher.

We were inside...basically we were fishing between Savedra and Nookta Islands. The bait was right up against the Kelp and the Coho and Springs were hanging in and around it. We only fished 1.5 days and on Sat the wind was made things difficult. We did have the fly rods out and picked up one on the bucktail. It was a short but wonderful trip and we also got to see a Humpback breach 4 times.
