1 lb weight on a spreader bar, large whole herring rigged in a holder with a 4', 60lb leader.. 30' off the rocky bottom. no by-catch and massive hits that take it right back down. just troll em around your favourite reef.

Also a pretty good video on “fishing with Rod” that shows how effective slow trolling large powerbait curly tails and swim baits around reefs and pinnacles can be ... I bet just about anywhere up and down WCVI you could do this on your way back to harbour - I.e. stop at all promising looking reefs/pinnacles, drop you rubber tailed jigs and slow troll around it, then pick up and run to the next.

I also have a Shimano Bobbin on order which will hopefully make beautiful PR knots.

Wow that PR knot looks labor intensive. I much prefer the modified FG knot that I'll show you, I've never had one slip and never had an issue with it.

Can tie it in 3-4 minutes too.
