Subject: FN1025-Recreational - Re-opening to Salmon Fishing - Freshwater Region 1
The salmon conservation measures that were put in place due to low flows and
high water temperature have been rescinded. Effective immediately, this notice
re-opens the 2015 river opportunities in Regions 1-1 to 1-13 with the exception
of the Cowichan River. The Cowichan River remains closed at this time. Recent
rain events have led to improved flow and temperature conditions in most rivers
systems on Vancouver Island. Please be aware that not all river systems in
Region 1 (Vancouver Island) are open to salmon angling. Check the recreational
fisheries website at http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/index-eng.html for
more information on freshwater fishing opportunities in Region 1.
