itroll Throttle Controller for Gas Powered Kicker & or main Engine

humpbubble well done
and if your hands on why not
but if you want all the bells and whistles even at the $500 price its a cool piece of kit
just think of it like an islander reel, but it (will/ should ) put more fish in the box....
hence i have mine on order and will be fitting it for the winter springs come December

Just putting this out there..
Rc servo tester, and servo attached to piece of copper wire to actuate carb throttle.
Yer rolling for under $20.fine rpm adjustments,4.5v.
Put this on my 70's johnson 9.9 works great.

I was actually building one for Yamaha T8. I already built a bracket made to hold the servo in any T8. With a rheostat and a servo you can build a unit for under $75. Any RC shop sells the servos for $15-$35 dollars. Very simple to build.

Awesome! I made up a bracket for my t8 as well.(havent installed it yet)will you still able to use the tiller? I assume the servo just turns if you do.
The one for my johnson was hidden inside the airbox.my yami setup not so skookum (starboard side of cowling) i coppied someones setup off of google.

Glad you guys made a thread about the itroll as I am without throttle controll right now on my kicker. I was in the process of getting a yamaha controller but the itroll is a cheaper and better alternative.

And the best part is am currently at Disneyland and I gave Joel from itroll a call and he is dropping off my unit today.
Kinda like it was meant to be.

I'd like to see one of the installed factory units on your boat. Sooooo when one of you guys are done, I would appreciate a posted pic and the opportunity to come visit you here on the Van Island or on the mainland in the New Year. I am techno challenged!! My Seasport came with a tiller arm yammie 8 , I've always upgraded and bought the premium priced remote shift style, But I kinda like the tiller motor. Can you run the system at each steering station with separate controllers? I winter fish a lot and am a closed cabin door heater tramp!

Barrie you can get the itroll to run you kicker tiller or remote model
if your not hands on
then its fairly easy install for any marine mechanic
just order up the right linkage arm for your model of kicker

That is awesome, sure was convenient to get it from Joel for me, I think you are going to like it a lot.

Called Itroll this morning they have a new model coming out with other new features and bigger processor. Just waiting on parts. New one should by avaiable by the 20th of this month.

I may just wait..... :)

how long are the cables on the control box? I've been trying to figure out how to have throttle controls for the kicker up front and on the back deck, this might be the answer.

He is going to have an option of adding I think he said 5 remote troll idle switches thru out the boat saving you from going to the helm to slow the boat down and later may have a remote avaiable.

The newer model will have a 3 step idle.... Troll/Half/Idle :) Models right now only have Troll/Idle

Just installed the itroll and I have a 25 foot cable that runs from back to front for when I want control at the front. Can easily move the unit to the back and plug into the power module which is located in my battery compartment. The control head has a 10 foot cord attached to it. Everything seems to work great put havent got out in the chuck for a test run yet.

I have had iTroll installed on my boat for the last 18 months and have found it excellent. Had one servo go lame which was promptly replaced under warranty. Just sent my head unit back for free software upgrade and just installed the 'hunt' programme. An excellent product that I heartily recommend.

well most of my boat funds went out the window thanks F.A.
but i got new electronics
well i went ahead and for the time being done the poormans option
yep almost to the dime your more or less running for $20 and a bit of time setting up the servo connecting rod to the carb

one thing to note here is that there has to be a slip joint on the servo connecting rod
so the helm or tiller can still operate normally and also when the servo is operated it can freely move the butterfly on the carb

my kicker had a completely differing carb set up to the yamaha ones listed so i ended up doing my own fudged linkage
but it worked and i used a smaller micro servo so will upgrade to a better servo
Hitec HS-5646WP Digital Waterproof HV MG Dual BB Servo

later in the year will drop the funds to buy the itroll which has just been upgraded to a gen 2 model with now even more better features

just to give a few people
the idea
should be pretty clear
hardest part was getting the linkage rod made up
but if you have basic hands on skills

Well I started installing my actual Itroll unit yesterday. Was fairly simple. Install and hooked up the servo and temporarily hooked up the wires and tested it. Today I'll run the wires today and it's done. Fairly simple to do just need good eyes and small fingers.

Notice my carb is totally different in the original linkage to it
even in the pdf files for itroll i cant find a set-up which show's a similar carb???
