Tried out my two new (to me) MR3’s this weekend. One of them had the standard (round) handles and the other one had the optional flat paddle style handles. What a differences, the paddle style handles are much more comfortable to use, offered a greater sense of control and in my view are far superior to the standard handles. I will definitely be getting the other MR3 converted over to paddles.

Have both MR2 & MR3's. I tested the MR3 when under development and the one I have is 1 of about 6 prototypes that I was told to keep after testing it. I still prefer the drag on the MR2. I find that it allows finer adjustments where the #3 seems to jump from a bit too loose to too tight with just a small amount of adjustment. That was a comment I made during the testing and I still stick to that opinion. It hasn't stopped me from using the #3 because it is still a great reel for all the other reason others have mentioned.
