I don’t think you will be disappointed by the condition of this reel. I just had it out to the Islander Factory as there is a very tiny spot of corrosion on the reel foot from the rod clamp (hidden when on the rod). This is apparently not uncommon and I was advised that it is so minor that it is not worth replacing the foot and to put a little clear nail polish on it. Otherwise the reel is in excellent condition. I was also advised that after use it is a good idea to take the reel off the Rod and slosh it around in cold fresh water and then stand it on edge to drain and dry. I think it is likely not a bad idea to also wash the salt out of the reel clamps on the Rod and to not store it on the Rod for a long time unless you are actively fishing with it, especially if the rod has metal clamps. Apparently warm/hot water should not be used as it removes the lubricants. I did learn that the cost to replace the foot is less than $20.00 but with the above care I doubt it will ever need it. Probably good advice for all Islanders used in salt water.
I have removed all the line to allow for your inspection of the spool.
