Is Area 18 currently open for Chinooks?

Down load the fishingBc app. It’s a pretty good one.

A DFO officer said that app wasn’t the final word though.

I would challenge that DFO officer on that statement. Fishing BC app is the official, and supported app by DFO.

DFO supports catch logging through the app, and carry of license through the app, and regulation information through the app.

In my understanding the final word is the fisheries notice as this is backed up by DFO regulations, legislation, policy and guidelines. If there is any discrepancy between the app, the fisheries officer or the fisheries notice the notice takes precedence.

It is the Variation Order that is the instrument that "changes" the Regulations. The VO is the legal document. The rest, Fishery Notice, Online Synopsis, BC Fishing App, etc. are all just Departmental and Third Party tools to inform and help the Public interpret the Variation Order or Regulations.
