ilegal crabbinig

well had to watch are crab spots get utterly De-pleated by F.N.
and not even from the bands who's water they belong to

from getting 10-20 in a trap now its 2-0 with undersize & females

funny then we where throwing 6.5-7" back in and just taking 8"+
i reckon they where pulling out over a 1000 crab per week for several months

so no wonder they don't have a problem paying fines

These people need to be stopped!! Take there boat, commerial licence, truck, whatever and good ridence to you. People
like these just plain **** ME OFFFF!!!

Why does this guy still have a commercial license, or license of any kind?

From what I understand a person would only lose their boat or license if they were in a 27 ft. Grady or similar fishing boat, be a hard working law abiding citizen and be caught with an improperly pinched barb while salmon fishing.

Are you talking about the Sechelt Inlet and Selma Park / Davis Bay area by chance ?

I saw that tank in short order too

That guy isn't FN - he's Vietnamese with a name like that. I hate to generalize because I've known some great Vietnamese people, but the ones doing resource jobs have a very different view on resource stewardship, to put it politely. I have personally called DFO a few times about the Viets and sent them photos of the people and boats breaking the rules, and NOT ONCE has my call been picked up, or voicemails and emails returned.

bonnie brooke camp byng area bay

the guys got busted came back and just fished in the wee hours of the night
and dfo where informed several times by lots of differing people that it was being wiped out but

the only thing they could do was no rot cord on the traps. so slapped wrist for them (
traps confiscated by DFO )and they where able to carry on and crab it out until it was not worth there time laying out 20+ traps to 1 buoy any more

yeah rules for one and and not for another?????????

Sign up to the commercial section on the DFO website (it's free) and you can see who hold's licenses and the names are posted next to the numbers. It's very interesting to say the least.

these commercial crabbers are just raping our coast of crab,,i crabbed behind wolf island in beecher bay all winter long and did very well for big dungy's,,then all of a sudden one day i see a bunch of commercial traps in 16 feet of water crabbing these grounds,,then for 3 weeks i fished in a different area because i was doing some sport halibut fishing,,then last weekend i went back out to fish for salmon at beechy..noticed that the commercial traps were not there anymore,,i fished saturday, sunday and again on monday, leaving my 3 traps in over night and checking them every morning before and after fishing for the day,,and guess what,,i got a few rock crab that i released and not even one dungy,,not even under sized ones,,WHEN IS DFO GOING TO SEE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM,,I BET WHEN THERE ARE NO CRAB LEFT,THEN THEY WILL SHUT IT DOWN FOR A FEW YEARS,,,GET THEM F___KING COMMERCIAL butt HOLES OUT OF THE LOCAL SPORT FISHING AREAS,,
we will get screwd again,,no doubt in my mind,,
when i was in one of our local food stores the other day i seen quite a few dungy's in their live tanks in the store,,and i noticed that the crab in the tank sure looked small to me,,do the commercial guys have a different size than us sport fisherman????

From what I heard there shouldnt be any commercial traps in beecher bay. Mabey a local just has commercial looking traps. There was one crab fisherman who was always fishing there but there are some connected people who own property in there and them and the residents banded together and made some deal with the guy. Not 100% on the whole story but thats the jist of it. It does seem crazy the boundaries commies are aloud to fish.

Since PM Harper has eliminated most fisheries enforcement officers, you might as well grab what you can. All you have to do is plead not guilty in unlikelihood event you are caught. Given it will cost tens of thousands to follow up with a significantly reduced budget and you get the picture. Like drunk driving in BC. Unless you are in an accident, plea not guilty & you have a 90% chance of matter not going to trial.

Went for a walk with the wife and the dog the other night down to the Sidney pier. As we are standing there a group of young Asians come along and start pulling some traps that they had tied to the pier. I didn't even notice them tied there. Well they pull the traps up and they got 2 small Red Rock Crabs. First they throw them on the dock and all run around like a bunch of little school girls. All the while I'm thinking they are going to throw them back as we are watching them. The wife turns to me and says they aren't going to keep those are they, aren't they to small. I told her that they were.
So we stood there for a while and then one of them returns with a cooler and proceeds to though them in and there are a couple other ones in the cooler already.
Well now I'm pissed and walk over to them and tell them they are to small to keep and ask if they even have a fishing license. Well of course they don't speck english (or I find in most cases when someone questions them on what they are doing they can't under stand what you are saying)
Anyway the wife is standing there and I can see that she wants me to just leave them alone. I did go over and try to take a picture of the cooler but they slammed the lid shut so the picture was no good, but I did see what car they were in so took a picture of the license plate and sent it along to DFO. I'm sure I will never hear a thing back.
Now before anyone jumps all over me I'm not for one minute saying all Asian's are like this. Just saying that this group was Asian, they could of been anyone and I still would of done the same thing. There it is, my rant for the day.

was at cates park a few years back. sitting with the wife and one of her friends when I pointed out you see a person, ok asian measure a crab way to small 4" tops then we continue watching. he then puts it in a empty chip bag the goes up to the garbage can and put the bag in the can then one of his buddies 5 minute later goes up to the can pulls out the chip bag with crab and then into back of car. and yes we phoned the crab hotline

While Fishing out of Vic yesterday there was chatter on the radio about stolen crab traps. One guy said his buddy could not find his traps so he pulled an un named float in the area and his traps were attached. Is there an increase of this crap lately?
