How to remove permanent marker from Orange Buoy

So we are sadly moving from this picturesque Vancouver Island, and I have a nice sized orange buoy & I want to sell it. Unfortunately, unless you have the same name & phone # as me, it might be a hard sell, any idea of how to get the permanent marker off? (I tried with paint thinner, hair spray, gas....but to no avail)? Ideas....

I know when I Sharpie a hoochy , the stuff goes right into the plastic and you will never get it out with alcohol or anything.

I don't think that you can get it off. When I bought my new to me boat, the bumpers had the old owners name and phone number on it.

I tried EVERYTHING that I could think of to get it off. We have this pretty toxic aerosol spray at school that we use on graffiti, and it didn't even dull the lettering. I think Seafever is right that it goes right into the plastic.

Let me know if you figure something out...I would love to be proven wrong

What about writing over the printing with an orange sharpie to match the ball colour? The next person can then go over that with a fat black marker.

Ah...so old deet product? I have tried now with some isopropyl & no luck. Yes, it is very well adhered to the plastic. Maybe the orange sharpie (is there such a thing) would work? Or maybe they will be sold for a great price

I've used brake cleaner and a scotchbrite pad. There's still a shadow, but when rewriting you cover it up.

mr clean eraser works, I did it!
I have also used a body shop final wipe solvent and a green scotch brite pad on the tougher ones

Belt sander and 100 grit

White vinyl paint over the old stuff. Then sharpy your numbers over it. The white shows up real nice when you are looking for "your" float lol.

Lots of floats out there. Nice to differ from everyone else's. Just a suggestion .

If you have kids and a sturdy tree at the new house....Tie a rope to it, sling it in the tree...boom, awesome swing for the kids.

Flexabar makes a buoy paint/coating specifically formulated for marine PVC and Inflatable Vinyl buoys. Cover it over if nothing else works and rewrite.

* Even better if you can find it it's a product call polyclens , dissolves any solvent based product and washes away with water after.

Thanks for all the ideas. Turned out someone bought the Buoy this morning for her boyfriend....I hope he reads this post
