If it were me I'd have the camera pointing @ the area that got the crabs in.............the bait
I'd mount the gopro @ the inside corner pointing at the bait, with an entrance as the background

As for mounting I'd use SS thin gauge wire to strap her in place

I posted some photos on here I took in a crab trap. When you bought your GoPro it was mounted on a black plastic base. Just remove this base and mount it in the bottom of your trap in any corner. I used zap straps to mount it in the cage. If you need more info let me know. If you search this site you will see the photos I took.

Hey Islander,

I've put mine in the upper corner(assuming square trap) and that worked really well. I used tie wire so that you can really adjust the angle however you want.

One thing I would say.....is be careful not to leave it too long. If you have pirates in your area...beware! I just tried to look but the footage must be on a hard drive. I actually have footage of a crab about to walk through the door and then the trap is quickly pulled up by a winch by some butt trying to steal my crab! The video didn't show a face and only the side of the boat with no numbers. They through it back quick and luckily before they saw that there was a camera in there.

Awesome footage though! It was pretty interesting to see a few crabs using the outside of the trap as a scracthing post. One litterally scratched him self for about 10 minutes on the front and then flipped over and scratched the other side.
