How many chinook have you caught this winter/spring/summer?

kept about 8 on my card, but was part of about 30 good springs, mostly from Bamfield. Largest being 32lbs.

Dudes.. I whacked and stacked a **** load of chinookies this year! Released almost as many! Halis were abundant as well.. numbers? I lost track long ago. There werent as many large springs this year.. me personally, stacked a 30, 34, 35 38 and 43. Largest hali 116, but many 50 to 80.

Enough to feed the extended family and a few friends.

Bonked a ton more pinks for the canner and smoker.

Any day I am on the water is a great day and I am thankful that I still get that opportunity.

Cheers

How about a halibut poll? I truthfully tried for and caught 0, Nada, Zilch. Did very well for springs though...

first real year on the water, since i was a kid (no downriggers then) fished with a buddy mostly, went pretty hard core, lots of pinks (smoker), maybe 5 or six springs 20 the biggest, buddy got 32 in renfrew, couple in 20s all in all had a blast, thanks for all the tips on this forum

I'd like to know...my guess is 1,100...close?

I ain't biting
But will go so far as to letcha know I have one plug that by itself managed 207 ;)
Gonna be reproducing somewhere around 300 of them over the winter!! And NO, they AIN'T up for grabs!!:)

UNBELIEVABLE Season! Chatted with a couple of my troller buddies who have been at the gig forever basically. Last time anyone could recall tagging 30's and 40's into September was 41 years ago! AWESOME!!!

Cheers,
Nog

Actually.. scheduled for surgery (dam double hernia from way too many Biggies this year) and right into DeTox after that. Yup, quitting the drinking gig... Forever! When they chain me down, I will have no choice but to rest methinks!

I personally don't like the numbers thing-I will say Spring Fever the boat has had a very good year-my personal dance card is not full but looks pretty respectable.

I'm with Spring Fever on this: I went through the numbers game with steelhead for years. Then, after evolving a bit in the technique part of it, I started focusing more on the quality over quantity part of the fishery.

With springs the charge is using different gear and seeing how many I can get on a certain spoon or plug, then trying to figure out why that piece of gear produces better then another.

Or by using big pre-war Hardy reels that weigh a freaking ton and give me bursitis fishing them all day long, but man oh man, how sweet it is getting freight-trained by a pissed off spring!

I got seriously dissed by a couple of snooty Bamfield guides two weeks ago: they were snickering at the idiot in the Arima who was holding his rod and reel in hand instead of leaving it in a rod holder the way all the cool guides do...little did they know that a take-down with rod in hand is worth ten in a holder.

So I guess I out-fished them 10 to 1 ???

No, wait a minute, I'm not into numbers... forget I said that...

Nice tackle there Sharphooks. Got a few good oldies myself.

If you want to start bashing Bamfield guides how about throwing out some names. I find it hard to believe any "Bamfield" guide would do that. Maybe some part timer.
So who's pissng ya off? I'd like apiece of them myself.

Hey Bod, that was more tongue in cheek then anything else--don't want to hijack the thread here, and no bash intended. These guys were in a Pursuit long enough to fish Kirby and Austin at the same time....way bigger numbers then I could ever come up with.

Yeah, prolly part timers ---the behavior wasn't what I usually get from guides out your way. Usually it's a top-knot bunch that deserve a lot of respect for doing what they do day after day, always with a smile and a good clean 'tude. Those are the real numbers guys
