how do you post pics?

easiest way is to find the post a picture post on here by doing a search

The next way is to get yourself a Photobucket account, it free,
download your pictures from your computer to the account. Once that is done, move your cursor over the picture and you will see four boxes appear below the picture, move to the IMG one, (last one), right click to copy it, then go to your post and where you want to insert the picture, right click and hit paste. Your picture will now magically show up when you hit preview or post new reply. Make sure that the location you want the picture to be is in the right place. Also one picture per line, do not post pictures side by side as it becomes a PITA to move the screen back and forth to see the picture.

any other questions fire away.

Cheers

Millsy.....just to add to Sitka's instructions.

You will see in the control tab above where you are typing a "response" a little button that has "picture" that looks like mountains and a sun with a black arrow in the top left corner.

If you "hit" that button it will appear like this in the body of your reply; [img]. You want to "paste" the link from your photobucket account BETWEEN those two [img] codes.

Oh....and as Sitka does state above...post the pics below one another and NOT side by side or your post WILL turn into an annoying to view piece of "flat middle-eastern in origin pocket bread". (PITA!!) :D;)

Move your curser over the picture you want to upload.
Go to the bottom and look for the image code, should look like this w/o the spaces between the brackets in the first IMG:
[ IMG ]http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq320/charlie4278/ChinookSalmonMigration.jpg[/IMG]"

Right click the mouse and select copy.
Go to the message and select paste!

You do not need to hit the little mountain thing on the post. If you do you will get a double IMG code. Photobuck already adds that in their link. Just right click, copy and right click paste, no need to do anything else.

Thanks Sitka....I didn't realize that. I have always just used the "direct link" URL from photobucket and then used the image tags from the site I am posting to.

Appreciate the heads up. [8D]

You don't have to use Photobucket (although many on this site do). To organize my photos at home, I use Picasa from Google. It automagically syncronizes folders on your home PC that you choose to their online site that can be viewed either by just invited guests (Private) or by the world (Public). Posting pics follows the same steps as above, just copy the URL from the box presented on the page (it tells you which one). Nice thing is that it's a single place for both videos and photos. You can also tell Google how to size your photo for displaying online so you can do a small tumbnail (for a photo attached to your signature) medium or large photos sizes.
