Curious for some tips on your fav set-up for Qualicum springs? I've got some Yamashita pink mini plankton MP16's. Single bead? Colour? Single hook (I usually set-up double gammies 5/0 for hoochies)? Leader length?

Thanks in advance.

If fishing in tight to shore at the Q's right now (say 80 or 90 ft in 120ft of water)...........glowhead pink minisquirt or pink with black stripe minisquirt 32 inches from back of flasher to nose of hoochie behind Purple haze flasher. I use salmon hooks in mine ..not Siwash. 4/0 or 5/0.

Also pink/blue minisquirt is good at times.

I assume you mean fishing right by the Q rivermouths right now?

Or are you talkng about Qualicum area generally at all times?

If generally, for summer fishing:-

Green splatterback hooch...38 inches flasher to nose of hoochy
Green Splat/back needlefish hoochy......same
Army truck/Glow hoochy....same
Black/white/Glow hoochy....same
3.5 inch Cop car spoon.....5 to 6 ft back of flasher
Green/white 3.5 coyote spoon....same
Army truck spoon (Silver Horde version) 4 inch.....same.
Irish creme spoon 3.5 or 4 inch.....same.
White regular hoochy......38 knot to nose.
OA12LR white u/v Yamashita hoochy.....same
J-82 North Pacific Hoochy (Pac Net and twine)....same

Flashers:-

Green Haze
Purple haze
Green/Glow
Purple body/gold sides Hotspot
Boogieman
Bright Green body/Cracked-Ice prism

Sorry Seafever, referring to river mouth. Having said that, I've yet to fish down that way. I assume single hooks in those lil' minisquirts?

I like to use a single offset-eye salmon hook in those. The barrel swivel goes up by the front end of the leader and the salmon hook is egg-loop snelled.

Some guys use the setup as shown by Sushihunter in the Tackle Tying thread

But IMO the salmon hook is lighter......therefore better action. Not held back by a big revolving weighty Siwash and the swivel that has to go on the Siwash inside the hoochy.
