Hmx rods mooching or down rigging?

I've fished a lot of rods and there really is nothing better for playing a big spring than a 10'6 HMX or a Trophy XL. Not in that price range anyways.

Yes, the can and do break but if you take care of them there is no better feeling when you hook the big ones. I've owned 5 HMXs and broke 3, all at the tip. But as mentioned in other threads I am a beast with the rods and I've snapped fiberglass ones too!

my 1164 HMX has served me faithfully the last 3 years. That being said, my backup is a TDR. What you make up for in feel you lose in durability and I can't stomach the thought of losing a slab to a broken rod.I love my HMX but when it breaks (and i'm sure it will) I'll be going with a shimano.
Unless anyone is parting with their sage for cheap...

The dealer is doing an over the counter swap on my broken rod, so that's good. If it lasts the season, I will probably buy another.
