That’s a Candidate Document Number application. Is this still a thing? All the govt pages linking to the application form come back as “Error, Page Unavailable.”

Thanks for reaching out Owen. I’ll give them a call today. If it all works out, I’ll post pics in the “let’s see your boat” thread.

I have an assigned CDN number on my Captains License

Thanks Ed. There’s an online “Streamlined Candidate Document Number Application” on the TCMSS website but it’s just a series of circle jerks leading back to dead links. I have a call in with them and I’m waiting now for a call back.

Ok call back says fill out the form (if you can find it). Photocopy all certificates and primary ID and secondary ID, signed and sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths. Send it all to Transport Canada office and they will send me the CDN. The explanation I got was they tried to make the system more accessible to online inquiries during Covid and made it worse not better.
I have a working link to the application form if anyone needs it.

Other option is to take all your certificates to the local TC office and have them assign you a CDN and attach all your documents to it. Helps them link all your certificates, and at one time a Marine First Aid course would extend the valid date from 3 years to 5....that is now being discontinued is what I was recently advised.

Right. I’m up here okanagan though and was trying through the govt website. Nearest TCMSS office that is able to do it for me is in Vancouver.

Hey Clint, I'm not positive but there may be one at the airport in Kelowna. I got some stuff done there for our lodge boats one year .I know the women's name, Kimberly Macula, when you see her you'll know why I remember the name. Lost the number in my Blackberry disaster a few months back

Thanks Ed. I’ll call them Monday. Let you know what I find out.

No luck at the Kelowna office. Have it figured out now though and after a little hoop jumping and a $10 fee I’ve got my CDN #.

next question would be where can I check that my past maritime certifications are in fact showing under my new CDN?
