I just got my first mooching reel in the mail from harbour chandler. Its a trophy.they spooled it with 350 feet of mono.it retrieves or rotates perfectly clockwise but when I pull on the line it is locked up solid.is there something I have to do.its my first mooching reel andi don't know much about them.

Clicker is in wrong or jumped.

If you want you could open the reel up. I believe they come with a parts book you can look at and see if something is out of line.

Or box it up and send her back

Something must be jamming it. Take a large slotted screw driver and loosen the screw that holds the arbour and drag. Gently pull the arbour out after taking the drag screw out looking for anything that might be binding the arbour. (Line twisted backwards on spindle, loose screw, ??). Keep taking arbour out noting position of spring, washers, etc, not too many pieces to mess up. Great reels, let us know how it goes.

You will find that the drag adjustment on the Trophy reels go from too tight to too loose very easily. A lot of guys have modified their Trophy reels by replacing the spring inside with the springs used in Islander reels. Here's a link which discusses it a bit:

Interesting - about the only thing I don't like about this reel is the very sensitive drag adjustment. Love the drag release for dropping it down easily and of course for actual mooching live bait. And they're a lot less money than an MR2LA.
