Hello from Smithers.

Hey all. I'm new to the forums and I just want to take a moment to introduce myself.

My family and I moved from Alberta 6 years ago to beautiful Smithers and loving life up here. I'm an avid fisherman, Spey fisherman and a nature artist. I have a small, part time fish reproduction business and since being on the Skeena river system you can guess I paint a lot of steelhead and salmon.

I am raising a couple of fishing partners and all I can say is small town life is the way to go. Giving up the big city job and now spending weekends on the river or mountains with the family. No regrets.

Anyways, short and sweet. If your ever in this part of the world come look me up and say hi.

My two fishing buddies the first summer we moved up here.

Welcome!!!! I have a very close friend of mine who lives in "Smidders" and is a MILDY addicted spey fisherman!! And that is putting it 'mildly'...haha. ;)

Hi ,welcome to the forum ,Be sure to start checking anderson flats in hazleton for chinook.Terrace should be good below the kitsumkalum of shore too.

Nice to meet you Headwatersfish! I used to spend every fall up at Smither, Hazelton, and Terrace fishing for Steelhead and Coho for 5 years in a row :)
You are living in some of the most beautiful country I have seen. The Fall colors are especially beautiful up there. And so many fish!!
My buddies and I fly fished (single hand) and gear fished the rivers up there including the Bulkley, Kispiox, Kitsumkalum, Copper, Lake Else, Morice, Skeena, and some of the other tributaries to the Skeena and Bulkley systems. We never went a day without hooking a fish up there in the Fall and had some unreal days of up to 30 plus Steelhead :). And that's no exaggeration!! I have literary hundreds of photos from up there. :)
Can't wait to get back up there at some point. Like you I also have two daughters who love the outdoors. I got married and we had our daughters shortly after my trips up North to the Skeena area. I used to travel all over the place to chase Steelhead particularily. Family life and work slowed that down for me quite a bit but now my daughters are teenagers and getting out fishing more often is much easier for me. I have a trip up North in my future plans for sure!

I'd love to see some of your artwork if you'd like to pm me some info :)

Check out Big Leaf Maple Syrup making and Birch Syrup making if you are interested in a winter/spring hobby you could get into up there.

Some pics of some of our Steelhead action up in Smithers and the surrounding areas: Cheers!

Great to have here Headwatersfish. Great looking fishing partners you have there. Great country around there and some great fishing for sure. Have you done any fishing out of Kitimat or Prince Rupert in the salt?
