Heads Up re:Salt Prices

Was just in a Bulk Foods place and remembered that I was out of salt-that most precious of substances that we're all using lots of this time of year either for brining bait or fish for the smoker.

Imagine my surprise when I found that coarse salt was 50% cheaper @ the bulk foods barn than the mainstream grocery across the street.

I just buy a big sack of Windsor Fishery Salt...40 kg or something like that...$25 each. Tons of savings, tons of salt! I pick one of those up each year for the dock, serves us well.

Tortuga, check your PM.

F_M could you share a location to purchase this salt? PM me if you don't want to publicly name the location? Thanks

They are open to the public and they are on this forum. I have sent a few PMs off. Hopefully they'll put it out there.

Maybe he's just being modest and doesn't want to be accused of spamming the board after all this can be a volatile place at times.

For the kind of quantity FM is talking about I'd look to Active Tackle in South Van but you'd need to phone them first you may need to open an account and who knows maybe it would be worth your while to do so since they handle a lot of other gear as well as bait by the case.

On the Island I dunno maybe look to smokehouses and commercial fishing operations-the usual suspects.
