Howdy folks, I went crab fishing the other day, and strapped a gopro to my crab net to see what happens below the surface. I thought it was really interesting to see all the activity.
Maybe try adding some pencil lead wrapped around your doors to weigh them a bit. Crabs will still come in but the extra weight in the doors will keep from the current pushing them up. This will keep more crab in the trap. Also on the folding style 4 door pots I normally Zip tie two doors shut and just leave two open. The crabs will still find their way in. Seems to help catch more.
Thanks for sharing - that is really cool. Otters are neat - until they get into your boat! They must be habituated for it to be attacking the trap as it is dropping down.
