Hatchery Fundraiser

Good news Mi Chica, a gentleman donated a nice fly rod and case at PNT Parksville yesterday, and there was more rods & reels etc. dropped off at Steveston PNT that are being shipped over tomorrow. I have also sifted through more of my personal gear and have more to donate. Thanks to them who are giving, hope to see lots of folks buying too...everyone becomes a big contributor at this sale. Thanks for helping to develop substantial change. Don't miss this sale, it'll be good - be sure to arrive early.

Tomorrow!!!
Anything you want or need for fish or boat will probably be there! Sale starts at 9 a.m. at the Harbour Chandler, but there will be lineups well before. remember that the early bird gets the...hootchie, anchor?

Great Jim, thankfully you were able to get all the goods that were dropped off at PNT by some really great folks & the stuff donated by PNT and the rest of my personal donations today. Looking like an awesome day ahead for you all! Have fun, make sure you get there really early, bring lots of cash, and be sure to take advantage of the draws ie: one ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for $10. The draws are big money items and worth the ticket purchase. Gotta work or I'd be there.

Btt.

Grab some coffee early tomorrow morning folks and head on down to the Harbour Chandler for a great sale with smoking deals on fishing tackle, boating stuff, draws for great items, and most importantly to help out a great cause......the Nanaimo River Fish Hatchery!!!!!!

Today

Yes, it is finally here - sale starts at 9a.m. today at the Harbour Chandler. This is your chance to get some really good fishing/boating gear at really cheap prices. rember you are helping the hatchery as well as yourself - win, win!

I wanted to post a pic of the last minute additions to the sale from yesterday, but the file size is too large and I can't get a photo editor to work and I don't have time to play with them this morn. Suffice to say that we received another huge donation from DHA, a brand new HMX 5 weight rod from someone who understands the need, plus rods, reels etc from Tinker, and a bigger better portable generator from Pacific Net and Twine.

Thanks to all who donated for this worthy cause, and I hope to see you all at the sale today.

To all who donated and/or helped put it on, and to all who attended -Thank you!!! Also, we should consider supporting those businesses (Ocean Marine, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Pacific Net and Twine, Skippers Marine, Nanaimo Marine Chandler, etc.) that supported the Hatchery with their donations. A special thanks to Harbour Chandler for the use of their venue and all their help.
Collectively, we have raised approximately $6,000.00 for the Nanaimo River Hatchery again this year. This money will go to good use and help ensure that there will continue to be healthy fish populations for us all to enjoy.
Again, thank you

Awesome guys-- this angler really appreciates the effort everyone (doners, HC and purchasers) has put into this.

Thankfully there are people in the angling public that follow through when they indicate their commitment, for without the good folks who dedicate endless hours collecting, cleaning, sorting and pricing, along with them who both donate and or participate by making purchases from the vast array of items laid out for this fundraising sale, or by purchasing draw tickets, none of this event could be possible. For all the open hearts, individuals who care about the future of our local fish stocks, Thank you, thank you for committing and following through with your dedicated effort, for without you, we could only call the time spent a failure...but for your effort, it is a striving success. A time in our past to be proud of what we have collectively accomplished. Good on them who did it!

Well done Chica.
Not sure if you're the big mover on this, but on the "boards" you're the man.

But sincere congrats to all the people and busineses who contributed.

Ya, no one will tell you, accept I will! Both Mi Chica(Jim) & Hot Rods(Clyde) have been the backbone for this event for the past two years. Clyde built the idea from inception and Jim has been dedicated from the start. Both have put countless time and effort into this event, they have been the determining factor and push toward it's success. They both deserve way more thanks for what they have accomplished, way more than this thread has even echoed. It's disappointing to see the lack of interest and thanks for their hard work and effort. They both ultimately deserve the warmest thank you that we anglers can give. These two gentlemen and fellow anglers are well above honors and dedicated to the successful future of the Nanaimo River Fish Hatchery. I have said it before, and I will reiterate it again, in today's world, I wish that there were more anglers willing to give as much as these two men have. Both Jim & Clyde are at the pinnacle of service to our fish. Thank you both for everything that you have created.

There was some chatter about expanding this effort for 2012, and there was also talk about skipping the idea of having a sale in 2012, in favor of a 2013 fundraiser sale, basically giving the boys two years to gather donations and to offer enough time to plan a super sale. My opinion was to continue to have the sale each year, however the founders fear that they have tapped a majority of donors and feel that they will not find as much support as they had for 2010 and 2011. I have dedicated my personal services to this cause and will continue to help form an entity that will be long lasting and to which will have an opportunity to expand beyond the local Nanaimo area, to other well deserved communities. We have talked about creating a non-profit entity, which seems to be the direction that we all seem to be leaning. With this we will need to develop a board of directors and a crew of volunteers who will have the same vision as the founders do in order to help develop and create substantial change for our fish stocks here in British Columbia.

I have taken it upon myself to secure four website domain names that will point to one entity. www.salmonfundraiser.com, net, org, ca. I will donate endless web hosting, and site development, consolation, marketing and graphic development.

My hope is larger than life, my hope is coast wide, my hope is for all salmon anglers to participate and help to develop substantial change in our fisheries today.

My apologies for not posting results of the sale sooner. it was a great success, with the Hatchery poised to receive slightly more than last years (6K +/-) effort. Huge thanks to all who donated, worked and/or attended. There were great deals had, and I confess I spent enough to get me in trouble at home, LoL. It's amazing what can be accomplished when we all have common goals.
