Hatchery Fundraiser

Due to an unfortunate glitch, this thread was lost. The one day garage sale (new and used) will be held at the Harbour Chandler on Saturday, September 24. All proceeds will go to the Nanaimo River Hatchery. They have not had a funding increase since 1984, and money is needed to support the educational programs and the Pink salmon net pen project, etc. This is a very worthwhile project and deserves our support. Last year we raised over $5000.00 with this sale and folks got some great deals. For those who had already responded with promises of donations, thank you, and could you either re-post or pm me. For all who have not yet had the time to do so, could you go through your stuff and see what you would like to donate, then post or pm. Your support is essential and appreciated.

Goods are coming in, but slowly. Time to step up and get involved, this is a great fundraiser and lots of fun plus good deals on sale day.

So far we have commitments from a few businesses, including a major item from Pacific Net and Twine. received some rods, reels, electronics, lights, a new prawn trap from Aqua Pacific, and 2 round slightly used prawn traps yesterday. Come on fellas, let's step up and help the hatchery. We need a heck of a lot more if this is to be the blockbuster that will really make a difference it should. Also given the way the DFO/Gov't is starvation funding, your donations and participation will probably pee them off - a good reason right there, LOL

We need your help to make this a success for the hatchery. Please go through your stuff and see if there is anything you would like to donate. I know it seems like a long way off, but we need time to organise/repair/price. If you can help please post or pm. This will be a great sale again, with lots of real bargains, with your support.

For those thinking of attending the sale we have donation commitments from a number of businesses, including Prawn hunter, Skippers, Harbour Chandler, and Ajacs. Pacific Net and Twine is donating a MAJOR item, even better than last year. Zurtro Lures and Aqua Tech have already donated goods. Other businesses will be donating goods as well. We also have received a significant donation of gear from Grey Heron. Jughead, Tightlines, TFish, Free Spirit, RVP, and Hot Rods are stepping up to the plate as well.

Received a doz new rods and some reels from TFish and a brand new auto dispensing dual voltage beer fridge from Dan The Wire over the last few days. Grey Heron donated a significant (a lot of it new) amount of tackle recently. Thanks Guys, the Hatchery will benefit from your selfless donations. Still looking for people to step up to the plate and ensure the success of the hatchery fundraiser. Your junk (boat or fishing) could be someone's treasure!

Received 6 more good trolling reels and a brand new tote type heavy duty fly rod (and reel and line storage) bag with all the original tags. Time to go through your gear and see what you can donate to make room for all the great deals on Sept 24

First, my apologies to you Bait tricks for not responding sooner. Somehow I missed seeing your post. Chalk it up to the senility that goes with my age LoL.

While we have had some folks stepping up, the actual flow of stuff has died to a trickle the last couple of weeks. Darn the good weather, LoL. The time is now, folks. we need your donations of gear, and sooner is better than later as we need time to sort, price, clean etc. Thanks in advance.

This is for a great cause folks. I know you have some stuff that you will never sell in the buy and sell or are just too stuborn to clean up a bit and get rid of it.

It will feel good to do it. So dust off that unused tackle or unused boating stuff and donate it for a great cause. Give back a little for the fish's sake. You can show up for the sale as well and pick up some incredible deals and help the fish that way too!

Over the past few days we have received a couple of anonymous donations, more gear from Black Bart, as well as a nice donation from Ocean Marine. There is still time to get your not needed fishing and boat related gear into the sale. Remember that it is for a really worthwhile cause. Certainly don't forget to mark Sept. 24 on your calendar as there will be some great gear at great prices.

Well, gear is trickling in, but we need more sir, Lol. Now is a great time to get involved.
If anyone is interested in a small 110V beer fridge that works, save us the trouble of lugging it around til the sale. For a $10 donation to the Hatchery fund we will give you directions for pickup. Contact Hot Rods or myself.
