I fish out of the south arm, so for me I mostly fish the mouth now because of fuel cost's. I used to fish the coal port a fair amount with average success, so my question is: Has anybody fished the coal port lately and how is it?

Cheers

Thanks Jimbo, Nice work on the red, I was supposed to fish tomorrow morning at the light ship but I just red strong wind warning in effect,I just can't win maybe I'll try the coal port.

Cheers

Yeah, the wind kept me off the water this morning, it didn't sound like a very pleasant day. I'll probably hit the ports in an evening during the week. Anchovy at 37 Ft.Marked different bunches off fish out there.

Well, I got my trailer, pulled my boat out of moorage, launched at the ferry slip fished inside the freighters to keep out of the wind. No luck not a sniff, got 4 legal crabs suprisingly with all the comercial gear everywhere, anyway it was a lot of work but all this wind makes you do crazy things ha ha

Cheers

Went out last night for 3 and a half hours and got 2 shakers and a 10 lb red at ambleside on anchovy, funny thing was there were little pale worms in the springs stomach, feed ing on the sand worms? I think i will try a blood and bones needle hootchie next time. Ps the wind was nill there last night although 15-25 reported in georgia straight. More fish around there I will definately be out again this week.We got our fish at the coal ports near the freighters where the water starts to come up to 57 ft or so along the red cans. The edge of the troff.

At the coal port right now not a lot to report yet.. Has anyone else had any success here yet? I've tried anchovys mostly small spoons and also hoochies every where from 55ft to 160ft of water and ran depths from right on the bottom in 55ft to 170ft in 160ft. there were a few fish around galiano the last few days so I thought I'd try coal ports to see if maybe fishing was better here now that its open. There are about 4 other boats here fishing mostly in shallow. Anyone else have any reports?

Was at the coal port last Sunday, got a 13lb white spring and a decent pink

LOTS of dogs out there too... trolling teasers @ 60' in 200' and had a tough time keeping them off
