Halibut meeting in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows
The BC Sportfishing Coalition is planning to host a halibut town hall meeting at Meadow Gardens Golf Course February 21 starting at 7 p.m. The cost is free and there will be a short presentation, discussion and ideas on how we can all help change this injustice to the Canadian public.

Some may not be aware that our MP for Maple Ridge/ Mission (which includes Pitt Meadows), Randy Kamp, is the Parlimentary Secretary to Fisheries Minister Gail Shea. I have asked him on two occassions to let me know what dates he is available so we could have him attend and speak if he wishes. I guess my emails to his Ottawa email address are not getting to him as he has not replied as of yet. So we have decided to go ahead and book the date and if he can make it great, if not that's his loss. Hopefully someone from his office can attend so the message can get back to him directly.

Please tell your friends about this important meeting and plan on attending yourself. ( View other thread as well )

Yes Getbent,
I knew that as soon as i seen the date of the meeting ,
, i'm pretty sure the 2011 Hali season will be officially scheduled for the year by then , BUT , what will that be ?
we should still attend , let the local politicians hear the impotance of the issue,,,

my gut feeling , we will probabally here a bit of good news , BUT , won't be what we really want ,
gotta keep pounding the issue , until we get our FAIR share....

Yes, just because we may hear perhaps, halibut are open doesn't mean this is over with DFO. Untill we have a change in allocation the pressure must increase

I agree,
I was just asking if what I heard was the deal or not.
I was at the boatshow in Van yesterday and the DFO booth was getting hammered, not the two officers at the booths fault but all the same, front line is front line and the general consensus was the same as on the board.

Randy did "show up"

He had very little to say other that a typical politicians sniveling, weaseling slimeball horse crap.
He's not our friend. Write those letters and pressure your local politicians. This is about the "slipper skippers" who were given our resource for free and now sit back and lease it out for 100% profit with no work involved on their part. If we don't stop this now it will continue on to all our treasured marine resources. I was glad to see over 100 sport fishermen out there.
