Halibut closed until 28th Feb?

Little Hawk, you have it right. If we all keep writing those postage free letters to the Feds and to the Provincial Gov't plus get a meeting with MP's and MLA's, this will ensure that the coalition will ultimately get results or if we continue to be ignored, it can be the spearhead of a court action that we will win. Our rights have never been extinguished in court or by legislation and there is precedent in our favor. They (Gov't) will not want to go there!

I am really not trying to be an a$$ or stir the pot...... but I pose a question for my insight.
How much halibut did the FN use for food and ceremonial purposes before the Europeans?.... which would have wrote the magna carta?

You are right in implying that the natives caught few, if any, halibut back in those days. However, the courts have
ruled that the native civilization would have progressed similar to ours. This is the argument they use in allowing
the natives to use high powered lights, rifles with scopes, four wheel drives, etc. to hunt instead of their traditional
bows, spears and the like. Also the reason they are allowed to use nylon gill nets to harvest salmon in rivers instead
of spears, dip nets, etc. I highly doubt, if left to their own resources, that they would have developed the equipment
which we have at our disposal. But, who's to say.
