Halibut Allocation

Why can't they move that unused quota to the 2026 season?
If we go over they are quick to take it off the next season 😞
Overage is deducted from the next years quota, however unused quota can not be brought forward to the next year. That is the rule it as simple as that.

There have been on a rebuilding trend for a while and there has been no directed commercal fishery on thoses stock except for fn roe and kelp fisheries .

No worries on SOG herring... many other more important issues....
Okay I get it your buying into the nonsense that there are more urgent matters than herring for the Salmon stocks. I also understand that you are happy with regularly catching small salmon sub 20lbs and that your happy with the one Chinnok limit. Unfortunately the herring quota to Commercial was raised last year after a substantial reduction over the 5 years before that. If you think that a Salmon can mature over 30 lbs on needle fish good luck with that one. Talk to any old time Islander and you will find just from the herring spawn that it's a tiny fraction of what it has been historically. It's sad that there are clones like you that are eating the BS that you are feed. Want information, look at the end of your fishing line. That's what I use to form an opinion.

Im more worried about dog fish now .....
Did you say Southern Resident Dogfish? Truly endangered. We need to set up some dogfish sanctuaries - the recovery plan needs to close broad areas of the best dogfish habitat and protect it from pesky recreational halibut fishers who get dogfish as bycatch. I hear all of Areas 121, 20, 19 have high intensity dogfish encounters - we need doggie sanctuaries. 😂 😩 🙈
