Haggards cove Info

Im looking for some first hand info on Haggards cove. I've been looking at lots and a cabin there and it seems reasonably priced, in a decent area and has a marina etc. Has anyone on here spent any time there or know anyone with a cabin there? Just trying to figure out if it's something worth pursuing or if there is something I'm missing. Any info is appreciated.

I have been there before my buddies owns a place there. I will PM you.

I have a friend that stays about 200 days a year up there. I have stayed on many occasions. A proper solar system with batteries is the ticket to your electricity with a small generator for back up or running your toaster. Close to great fishing spots. Well protected marina. No road access as you likely know already. An old truck or quad to bring stuff to your cabin is pretty much a necessity. Lots of wildlife, bears included, so garbage needs to be secured. Don't leave any salmon skin on your BBQ or the bears may just tear your cover apart to get at it. ( Sorry Mike!!!) That's about all I can offer.

Awesome thanks for the info. I think I may have got in touch with your friend yesterday. Unless there is more than one person living up there over 200 days a year. He gave me a lot of good info. Thanks for all the pms I've got it's much appreciated.

we looked there but could not wrap our heads around running a full service lodge without city power and water. Bamfield would be a better choice IMHO. quiet spots with all amenities, beach for family. perfect.

It offers water and sewer but I agree with u on the power. I would love to have a place in Bamfield but unfortunately I think it'll cost twice as much. It's looking like 200k or so gets you a fully furnished place at haggards with a slip in the marina included. I'm not sure what 200k would get in Bamfield but maybe I'll take another peek.

Hey just curious about that are for the guys that have fished it. When they say fishing minutes from the dock - is that literal (salmon)?. If a guys was into kayak fishing how many miles would it be to some decent structure for salmon? And how is the wind / water?

If you took your kayak out of Haggards Cove you could be fishing almost immediately. Around the corner is Rainy Bay. It is sometimes closed for salmon but often open. Across the channel is Assits Island where I caught my largest salmon to date. Pill Point is about a 5 minute run by boat. Check out this link to a map of Barclay Sound. You should find it useful. https://mapcarta.com/24708362
