Grady white 232 - Delamination

Grady white is a tough color to match. Looks like a good match. What a pain in the butt all around. That side looks so good you will probably want to wet sand and polish the rest of the hull.

Grabbing the tub tomorrow...dropping it off to get some welding then home for some other stuff that's needs some attention. You read my mind about the topside and portside and I will be giving you a call forsure about the wet sanding :)
Cost of the repairs ??? If you don’t mind ??

I will say this much... more then quoted as there was much more damage then seen from the outside .. however there was much that they did that I wasn't charge for... some where between 12-20 grand... the repair they did was nothing short of perfect and would recommend them to anyone . They send me almost daily pics of work done and feel that I was treated fairly. However I do have one problem 😕 now I have to wet sanding wax up the port side and top deck ...should pretty.much look ike a new boat.. extreme fiberglass is nothing short of a first class place :)20241205_163024.jpg

Great looking job. May as well go all the way and get them to make it look new all over. That’s a lot of sanding and you ain’t getting any younger 😊

No different than "a little bit of rust"...$45k later haha.

Well done! Way cheaper than a new one too!

I didn't run it under insurance ... not sure it would.have been covered as the damage that caused this was the previous owner . I bought the boat 14 years ago and they had covered it up.

I have seen a number of Grady’s where all of the decals and branding is missing. Is it possible that they also had this type of work done but just did not replace the decals?

Not necessary... the old decals just get old and need replacing and can be expensive to get replaced. I have had a couple friends just removed instead of replacing. I have heard of couple other grady that required the same work. The problem with a balsa wood core but the hull had to have had damage to allow water it in.

Thanks for sharing the pictures @Derby. I'm just finishing up cut polishing mine. Wax is next.
I noticed I have a lot of outer hull flex on my Port side (delaminated for certain), so I'm guessing I'll be doing the same process. Was there a reason they didn't use Coosa Board (there is a dealer "Norwester Specialties" in Parksville)? I've used it in a couple of my builds now, it's awesome!
I'll wait until next winter now though as it's too close to fishing and I have shoulder surgery coming up and I'll be out of commission for six weeks.

Pretty optimistic thinking 6 weeks for shoulder surgery if it's rotator cuff repair,I've had 3 of them and recovery was really slow.As a matter of fact both shoulders the superspinatus broke off months after surgery. I hope yours goes a lot better than mine have.

Well, I do hope mine goes better for sure. I am going by what has happened to a couple ppl I know and what the Dr said.

Wow that’s crazy what a massive job, looks beautiful now. Hard to believe where it’s was to where it’s now completed and looking like new again. Didn’t know the 232’s hull sides are cored good to know for any future 232 purchases to check for delamination on the hull sides.
