Thanks Tim but I must be effing retarted cause it isn't working. Thanks anyways guys.

Hey Chris,
I've done a few of these over the years and this should get you going
first you may have to go into the lowrance menus
and make sure com port 1's baud shoud be set to 4800
then you will want to hook the yellow from the VHF to the green of the Elite
then connect the shielding wire from the VHF to the shielding of the Elite
its basically only one wire you will use, then connect the shields together
only elite can "talk" and the VHF must "listen"

hope this helps Tim

Edit info added

try this on the lowrance
press menu twice, scroll down to and select nmea0183, check all boxes under the gps section, set baud to 4800 if its not already

GPS Verification
If the GPS receiver is correctly connected and it transmits valid data, the display shows GPS
Data OK. Press ENT-1W25W to open the GPS status screen and see detailed GPS data:

Hey Tim,
as I recall in my case with connecting my Lowrance HDS chartplotter to my Icom 402S I agree as I recall it was only one main wire in the NMEA 0183 cable that was connected ( plus the bare sheild wire to ground).
I thought in my case though, it was the NMEA's yellow wire (+ TX/transmit) out from the GPS that was used to connect to the "receiving" VHF (+ pin of RCA connector on VHF). If you look at my attached diagrams it does seem logical because the GPS is "transmitting/sending" a position info to the VHF ("device" in diagram) therefore the use of a transmit wire from the GPS. The wire then shoud I suspect be positive if its being connected to the positive pin of the VHF 's RCA connector.

I had help with doing my connection so I can't say I did this myself at all or that I have any experience doing it .... just trying to recall what seemed to make any sense to me when it was done. Tear me apart if I am 'out to lunch' or 'OUTALINE' on this but I'm enjoying figuring it out !!!

Greg, you are 100% right,
geesh I must be getting old as I went back and edited the wire colors back around yesterday after I had them right the first time.
wiring up my own autopilot right now and too many colors to think about I guess.

ok last edit!! you will only use com1 rs232 4800 baud as follows
VHF Yellow to Lowrance Yellow, VHF Green to lowrance shield.

try that Chris, should work a little better now, we had vhf talking to lowrance-Sorry

Tim
