Coming back from a dog fish adventure, bloody buck with a doe in tail ran right into my
passenger side fender and put a nice dent in my so-far un dented truck.
what a **** off.
Victoria, home of the blacktail deer .... :(

Fornicating Deer are a danger to motorists and add to the deer population;time to fill the food banks.

I have to visit Saltspring Island for work later this week-not looking forward to driving those rat infested country roads especially @ night.

I know it's the rut and all combined with a weather change so the deer are crazy, but I've noticed a lot of animals acting crazy the last week. Got taken out by a dog as I was riding my bike, strangely the very next day a near miss with a deer and two more dogs (this time on leash.) Lots of dead racoons and deer along the roadsides. Maybe they know something.

Was it a kill shot Scott?? .... hope so

Maybe give Dentex a jingle? A buddy went through them and they did quite the job, I'm really not even sure how they got it that good?

It was cheaper than
deductible
.

Good advice;buddy got a new ride,it had a dent near the tail-light...took it to Dentext,dent was gone,avoided a repaint...in/out same day and cost $150

I just hit on today on Sooke Rd just got back from Sooke... Stupid thing came out of nowhere on shoulder of road.... and remarkably it went down, and not mark on truck...It hopped into bush... I hit it extremely hard so not sure if it will become cougar food.

That being said I have a GMC 1500 sierra truck. With a car it would have probably totalled it...

I spent 4 hours in the bush on Sunday looking for the buggers and only saw one spike buck. LOL!
Trying to do my part.

Rut should be on in town nowish. Always love sick deer on the streets close to Halloween.
Couple weeks from now for the elevations where we can wack em.

Tips

bring on more cougars here...those cougars eat deers...but too bad, conservation officers keep shooting at cougars when entering urban areas. Right now, too many deers are on the side of Sannich Road.

I got smoked by one last fall while riding my bike home from work out by Mount Doug park. Ran out from between the cars on the opposite side of the road and hit me square in the hip -- didn't see it until the last second. Fortunately I outweighed it by 100lbs and that it was a female. Had it been a male or hit one of my wheels it would have been an ugly scene. As it was, only thing that happened was my foot came off the pedal cleat. Deer hit the curb hard and continued running. I had a massive bruise from hip to knee.

I can understand not being allowed to shoot them in town, but it would be interesting to find out about trapping options. I could get 1 per day easily in our back yard.
