Goals / plans for 2025 summer / fall season

To blow this thing up I'm gonna run it full throttle all summer everyone better watch out...while it is still mine, I refuse to pay anyone else to work on it. I'm 15+ hours in for all new manifolds and risers then a new raw water pump etc etc. Doesn't sound like much but hourston left sfa for room to work...and @Raincity dares to ask me why I drink haha...go get, em!

Ha ya me too...this pig is ready to fly...even a new fresh water wash down pump as the last one died the very last day out in 2024. As you can see, my wife really wants her spot back in the garage haha...off to the marina tomorrow for bottom paint and a polish...I'm tapped out!

Are you using single action reels or level winds?
Just used my downriver single actions... nice limber rods. Worked for us.

For me I have 2 goals this year. First one already achieved… land a Halibut. We got 3 chickens (biggest 80cm) last week off Victoria, but of course that didn’t satisfy like I thought, will be going back to try for a good one.

The other is learning how to jig effectively for salmon. Or try power mooching. Trolling is great but gotta try something new.

Yes starting end of July.
We've done it most years for the last 10.
Us also... maybe see you up there. We usually are fishing Idol Pt late July, but we can be anywhere between Campania or Rivers, as we are out for 2 months

I was so excited to see someone else interested in coho on cast flies, I didn't mention any goals. One would be to get fly fishing for coho better figured out. I'd also like to catch a halibut, planning a couple short trips outside so it might happen.

I will finally be back up in Haida Gwaii with my boat this year. My goal there is to Jig big Chinook. I want to slowpitch on structure & get smashed by a Tyee.

1) Fish St John Harbour and learn some new water
2) 2 night getaway on the hook somewhere around Nootka, just me and the wife. Wine, fresh seafood and perhaps not a lot of fish catching!
3) Not quite as ambitious as some others after coho, we’ll say pinks on the fly! Seriously though day with the kids/nephews filling the boat and the pressure canner.
4) I love running the gear but would be great to have my boy setting rods all on his own during our annual father-son sandheads trip.
5) Stretch goal: figure out how to make a $100k boat fund materialize for 2026 goal.

In the past I've started my season by catching the last ferry, sleep in the truck, fish sox in Alberni, get to Ukee, launch, set up the tent, then leave before 5 every morning to fish multiple species and prawns. Too many rods, too much crap, too much rushing, sometimes too much risk with dark and weather. Get 2 chins, go anchor, stop and jig the rocks, go check the prawns, deal with the catch, fuel up, cook, sleep. Repeat for three or four trips. The goal this year is to slow down and stop caring about limits and just enjoy being there. Maybe stay an extra day or two each trip.

My goal is to experiment with some new creations. Been repairing old worn out spoons using permanent markers, flasher tape and nail polish. They look amazing and it will be sort of analogous to the feeling you get catching fish on your own flies. Also going to try some plastic anchovie baits - hoping to get those to work also. So many experiments, so little time.

like to get a mid 30 or a 40lber and just enjoy the days on the water even if they go wrong sometimes... tightlines everyone
