Got down to the boat today and was preppin the boat to go fishing when i noticed my gas cap was wide open!!!!!! It poured yesterday! It means my gas cap was open and got rain in it.I then checked the fuel meter and it was 2/3rds full. My dad was down there 2 days ago and he said he topped the boat off with gas. so A. Someone snuck onto the dock and syphoned out 40 bucks of gas. My boats the first one down the ramp so it would be closest. Or B. My dad didnt top off the boat all the way and he didnt put the cap on for 2 days. So 2 days of rain got in. Dads out of town so cant ask him for a few days. What should i do about the rain getting in?

Add a water seperator filter to your fuel line if you already don't have one, then add some gas line antifrezze to your tank. You didn't say what kind of boat motor, and tank, but hope this helps.......Tight liness....BB

hey kelly go to candain tire or somewhere automotive and you can buy gas tank additive that "burns" water and will take most of it out of the fuel

I would question how much rain water could actually get into the tank. Ya, it rained ,but not that much.
need a locking cap !

It rained pretty good here yesterday. Complete downpour for an hour or two. Ill try that additive. The tank is about 90 liters in in the floor

I was told not to use gas line anti freeze in the boat because it breaks down the rubber in the fuel hose and that the fuel lines in a boat are different than a car

I would think the rubber would break down with repeated usage over time. I think the previous suggestions are good. I would install the seperator and the fuel additive, then top up the tank with some supreme gas. Them try and burn off that tank of gas as soon as possible.

get a fuel water seperator hooked between your built in tank and motor you shouldnt be on the ocean without one any way.

In order to siphon the gas, they would have to get a jerry can lower then the boat. I don't think that could be the case.

They do have manual pumps don't they?
Either way, dump in about 1/2 cup of methyl hydrate and leave the gas cap off.
It will evaporate within 10 min along with along with any rain water,
(or condensation) that got in.
If you don't have a water separator get one.

So i researched a fuel water seperator and it there is one installed in the filter in the engine. I have read since its fuel injected i shouldnt add a seperator on my line. I took a look today and cleaned the filter but didnt find much water at all. Anymore ideas?

do you have a seperate tank for your kicker? ide just get out there and run your boat and keep a spare can on board for your kicker if anything does happen?? if anything is going to happen it will out there lol, just check your water-fuel seperator each trip till your tanks empty
