Garmin Help

[Degree of Freedom]

I know I've been asking for a lot of help lately...but I've got one more!
I've got a Garmin 400 series chartplotter and two boys under the age of 4. The reason I mention the boys is I think little fingers have been F%$$ing with the buttons, as my contour lines have disappeared.
I've still got the shallow water contours where the chart changes color or shade (ie light blue to darker blue or blue to white) but out in the deeper water (white background) the contours are gone. All that's left are the spot depths.
I can't find anything in the manual on this, and I've tried everything.

Hopefully someone knows what the problem is, and it's so simple I'm gonna feel like a moron.

My grandson is 3. The way he handles an ipad puts me to shame. I suggest asking the young lads the same question. You may get a quicker and more accurate answer. Good luck.

somewhere it should come up as show clutter? try it...

If you are using a Bluechart card in the unit, just select the fishing chart instead of the navigation chart when you start the device up. Or push the "home" button on the front of the device and when "charts" come up, select it and it should give you the option of choosing fishing or navigation charts. Only the fishing charts have the contour lines, as least on my Garmin GPSMAP 421 with the Bluechart G2 chart card. Hope this helps.

While This post is fresh, I also have a question about my Garmin chart plotter and contour lines. I have a GPSMAP 292 with the blueChart MCA500L (puget sound to port H) and my issue is some detailed contour lines dont apear on the plotter unless i zoom waaay out, or when im zooming around, it will wright and show the contour line, then rewright it without that perticular contour line! and these lines are usually detailed hali spots!
I dont have the GPS with me to check, but since I am getting some contour lines, i asuume mine is set to fishing, and i have some other issue?
Any thoughts?

i have the same prob telstar26,what year is your card??.., sometimes dependant on the area if i push show clutter it comes up...a lot of different cards have gone through garmin,, i just found a new 2008 blue chart g2 to upgrade my 2005 that does not show contours or all contours,, test run this weekend,, gotta enter the spots poco marine has some of these cards still if anyone needs.. goodbye 2005 , hello 2008,, haha, can't afford a new head unit for a couple more years, hope this will help..

No kidding! my 18 month old fired up my iphone and started playing music this morning...the music part was a fluke, I'm pretty sure, but he has figured out how to get it out of hibernation. won't be long and the little buggers'll downloading ****!

Its nice to know someone else is having the same troubles. Ill check the year of my chart and get back to you, but i think its an 06. Can you let me know if the newer chart fix's it? Also, what unit are you useing to view the chart, and what chart are you useing? (im assuming its the same as mine, but im un sure)

on the older charts if your not getting all the contours you have to go into menu>chart> chart detail and scroll to most, if I am remebering right.

Yes, Just check: My chart chip has JUL06 on it. Please let me know if the newer chart fix's this contour line drawing issue.

Ok....so I thought this was the problem...it wasn't. Back to square one. Any other ideas?
