Fuel shut off valve for kicker

I am getting a new Yamaha F300 main and T25 kicker and will be rigging everything up myself. On my previous boat which was a smaller fiberglass 19ft, I had the 115 and 9.9 kicker both running from same fuel/water separating filter with 1 inlet line going from gas tank to fuel/water filter and 2 outlet lines, 1 outlet line going to main 115 and the 2nd outlet line going to kicker. Never had a shutoff valve for kicker and never had an issue with fuel starvation etc... now that I have both motors being bigger at 300hp and 25hp, do I need to have a dedicate fuel shutoff valve for kicker? Would like to be able to start one, shut off other or run both when warming engines up etc without have to turn a shutoff valve on and off. Can I get some input was to how you guys are setup for a larger 300 main motor and a 25hp kicker? Both are efi of course.

I have a 300 and 9.9 no shut off valve, had a 225 before same setup never had issues, very seldom need to pump the bulbs

check valve in bulb prevents this.
Some motors specifically state to NOT have a primer bulb in fuel line as they state it may cause resistance/constriction to fuel flow. My mercury user manual is one example of a manufacturer that stares this. Not sure about yamaha, suzuki, etc..

definitely something to look into. i would think some primer balls are larger diameter with higher flow rates.
on my old trophy i installed nipple and a simple ball valve coming out of the filter as i did have issues with the big motor pulling from the kicker.

Was your kicker carburetor or efi? I am wondering if it's less likely to happen on an efi kicker?
