Iv been an avid fresh water lake, stream and river fisherman since I was barly walking. Iv got all the kit I could ever want for that style of fishing. Iv moved to Sooke, and am excited to start salt / open water fishing. Were looking into a boat, but Im also going to need to upgrade some of my equipment. Salmon kit, down riggers, poles, reels, and maybe even a trap hauler to pull up my crab traps.

Since I have no experiance with salt water fishing, is there any differences in these thigns between salt and fresh water? Im a HUGE Ugly stick fan, and will be buying a couple big fish and trawling poles, and reels to match, but thats about as far as I want to go without some local experiance and research.

Thanks a ton,

Wise buys fishing store in Colwood would help you out with some tips in saltwater fishing...or go with a guide, Blue Wolf Charters to show you some ropes. Those people are very good fishermen. good luck
