i will be down at the coast this weekend. wife wants to see her family, i want to fish. can someone point me in a direction that i will be able to bar fish and get away from all the flossing. i m looking between hope and agassiz somewhere. any info would be appreciated. i know it will be tough to find an open piece of shoreline anywhere but there must be somewhere that people only bar fish.

The majority of bars will have flossers on it from Hope all the way down to Mission. I do know of one ,my Dad used to bar rig (u will need a boat) from and I will Pm u its location. Hopefully it still devoid of Bbs.

OK, nm, found a couple youtube video's. I don't think this would be considered legal fishing in Ontario. Funny how its tolerated here.

Flossing or Bottom bouncing is the most popular way to fish the Fraser for Chinooks and Sockeyes (when open). Its a legal method of fishing and very effective way to catch your limit of sockeye.

It's probably better to call it flossing, because bottom bouncing is actually a sport fishing technique used to catch Steelhead or Salmon in rivers. Using the terms synonymously is confusing for a lot of people. Flossing is a legal way to snag and harvest a fish. In Alaska, they even allow recreational anglers to harvest fish by dip net if the runs are adequate.

My suggestion for bar fishing when the sockeye madness is on is to fish the tidal portion below the Mission Bridge - lots of chinook jacks around this time of year as well as adult chinook. Matsqui Park or Derby Reach are two nice parks where you'll have lots of room to bar fish with no confrontations with flossers.

X2 on that or even. Brownsville Bar if you on town and want to bar fish.

well i think im just going to stick to my local lake and avoid all this. might go all day without a hit but i also might go allday without seeing another boat.

Every year the same BS. The Bbs fighting the Bar riggers. The Bbs and Bar riggers fighting the natives. The Bbs, Bar riggers and the Natives fighting the Commies. And everyone fighting each other. Wahoooooo, its Salmon season on the Fraser! Gong, Gong, Gong!!!!!
