Formula v vs ocean pro.

Father inlaw is looking for a 24 foot hardtop. Considering a 240 ocean pro or an alumaweld 24ft fomula v.

Other than 1 inch less beam, and 20 gallons less fuel, are there any other considerations?

I know the alumaweld is 1/4 bot 3/16 sides, vs 3/16 bot / 1/8th on the ocean peo. But the ocean pro is about 600lbs heavier ? Not sure what accounts for the extra weight on the ocean pro.

I suspect the extra weight is due to the full solid cabin? Isn't the Alumaweld a vinyl top by default? Just guessing that if you optioned them both up the same, the weight would have to be similar.

Deadrise 18deg for the Alumaweld vs 13 for the Ocean Pro. That's a pretty big difference, depending on what you want.

I was shopping last year for a similar level of boat, and I found I had to physically get to them to really get a sense of the differences and what was my fit. The websites and spec sheets can only tell you so much.

I personally went for 1/4" bottom, beefy keel guard, and I beach my boat with zero worries. :) I also like a real full reverse chine. Preferences.

Yeah... no reverse chine on the fomula v... mich difference for stability?

What did you go with? I'd love to go with an island plate builder, but it's not in thr books.. $$$$$

That hull was 65 not outfitted prior to covid. I would have loved to get one and would have had I known how much more they would inflate to. My favorite boat when looking at everything at the boat show.

1/4" bottom with the 18 degree deadrise should be a much nicer ride. The boats might have a similar weight overall, but having extra weight right in the bottom due to the thicker aluminum is where you want it.
