Kinda looks like one of it's parents might have had a thing for Rock Fish. :D
 
wow, mmm actually ya...this summer off of freeman rock, haida gwaii. Had a guest catch a lingcod with the exact same yellow pigmentation...i had figured genetic, parasitic maybe?
 
They can be all yellow too. Hang at a processing plant and you see them
 
I'm surprised that it survived to the size that it is. Mother Nature has a nasty habit of killing off genetic mutations etc. unless the mutation creates a stronger specimen. Maybe this is the new Super Hali, costume included!
