Fly Fishing the Elk River

I plan on visiting a friend living in Sparwood, BC. He mentioned they have good fly fishing down there and I jumped at the idea. Can anyone tell me what kind of fish are in that river and give me some tips on spots and flies to use at this time of year?

I used to guide the Elk before KAGA fcukd it up. Should be really good for Cutthroat on drys, since there is hardly anybody fishing it any longer. Usually a yellow body wulff will work fine. Hoppers and tarantulas too. There are Bull trout as well but harder to target. Some White fish too. Lots of good walk and wade between Sparwood and Fernie and the back road up from Sparwood can be very good. If you have a boat you will have a ball. Be aware you will need a classified waters tag, not a big deal for BC resident, but major pia for aliens. All tribs can be good too. Pocket water on the Bull, Wigwam, Michelle. All you need are boots, you will fry in waders. gl.
