Fishing tides & moon phases

Being reasonably new to the salt water fishin game, I hear all kinds of information. Does anyone have any actual consistent fishing success that is related to the tide or moon phases?

some guys swear by it... i just go fish...big tides have more effect i believe. i do fish tides in different times and areas.

I always look at it. Its just another things where "if it all lines up" you will consistently have good fishing days.
Youll notice just around the house on somedays you hear birds chirping away and flying around, and other days nothing. On those days when the birds are active - the fish are active too.

I look at at overall weather (i find it does have some effect on the "mood" of the day, back to the bird chirping thing, atmospheric pressure is huge, the higher the better, and the lunar tables.
high/raising atmospheric pressure coupled with good lunar tables are almost always good days fishing, and vice versa.

I dont find it to be as influential on offshore fishing, but i still notice differences. Offshore is more of a bait and current fishery, but again the better the day, the more the bait and salmon and hali are out hunting and looking around

Aw crap....now in addition to the moon, the weather, the tides, whether the month has a 'r' in it, I have to see what the frigging birds are flopping around before I go out fishing. This is getting way too complicated! ;)

I've never paid attention to moons phases on the chuck but it seems to have a significant effect on smaller interior lakes.

I never pay attention to moon phases. I fish when my schedule allows. If I fished when moon phases were right, I'd never get out. Not saying they aren't affective, but, I've caught lots of fish in full moon phases when I've been told fish don't bite. Tidal movement pretty well happens every time we fish and I believe is more critical. I never lose the opportunity to put the time in (gear always in the water) during slack tide. I also always seek out areas on water during active tidal periods where water convergence is happening (two bodies of water convergering or whirl pools). These areas tend to trap feed and attract fish.

Just attended the Van. boat show and went to a seminar done by a local guide whose resume shows extensive experience and years of cumulative data and he presented the best activity was both slack tides with the ebb getting the nod for being more productive, full moons not good withy a clear sky but ok with cloud cover

Simple rule of thumb...2 hours on either side of a slack tide are golden. I always make sure I'm in the places I want to fish for these fishing windows. Never make a move that takes up too much time in the magic 2 hour window.
