Summer is a great time to fish Mona Passage off the east end on the Island-between Hispaniola (the island the DR is part of ) and Puerto Rico.
Lots of White Marlin,and Dorado not sure about Tuna or Blue Marlin.
It's so productive that charter boats from Puerto Rico head over to Marinas @ Punta Cana for the season to save fuel since it's a shorter run to the grounds than their home ports.
Mike's Marina has the biggest web presence but I wouldn't book anything in advance, with tourist numbers down charters will be willing to bargain.http://www.mikesmarina.info/index.html
Do Be Careful that you're going out with someone who knows WTH he's doing the DR is famous for Booze Cruises, boats with more drink holders than rod holders that are just there to take people for a ride.
That's what's always bothered me about the DR no one will give you a straight story and everyone wants to act as your agent.
