Just heard on the news that some fishermen were rescued from the Cap last night. They missed the warning alarm for the flow increase and got trapped on an island.
Really need to be careful now with all the rain thats falling and more on the way

Yes u are correct..there were 3 fishmen stranded last night at Cap river on the island just under the bridge on Keith rd,
Kinda embarrased abt it cause i was one of them...but i keep asking myself ..How did i let this happen?
i feel kinda stupid but im glad i made the right choice to call for help and i am so thankful to all the emergency people especially the NSR coming
to our aid... im still shocked how fast the river on the other side came up... on the way in abt 330pm absoultely zero water and by 630 it was around 3.5 to 4ft in some places... btw.. pls tell me what alarm? i didnt hear or see no warning...

there is no alarm....and even if there was an alarm at the dam, you would never have heard it where you were fishing. We use to jam a stick at into the ground at the water's edge and keep an eye on it.

Glad to hear you got out of there ok Peter88.
Other members on this site may have more info on the warning alarm or offer some good advice.
i know the dam will sound an alarm when releasing more water, but you probably couldn't hear it

We used to do the same when we waded across the Squamish river

Its pretty easy to get caught in that spot. There is no warning sound...stupid would have been to try to get across in the high water...

Thanks Tober..Im glad as well as the other 2 people rescued that evening..one older fella was and wanted to try getting across but
lucky we told him to wait for help... bottom line thanks to all the ER and the NSR that helped up..

Stupid is as stupid does. Darwin

Looking at some of your previous posts, and this one now. All I have to say is you are one arrogant person. Guy comes on here to learn and makes a mistake and owns it, and you come up with this?
